The Westchester Community Foundation and The New York Community Trust recently hosted a cocktail party at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY to honor its Executive Director, Catherine Marsh, who is retiring from the organization after 16 years. Those at the party graciously thanked Marsh for all her hard work and dedication to the organization. The reception also served as the first formal introduction of WCF’s new Executive Director (effective July 1st), Laura Rossi, who currently serves as a Senior Program Officer at WCF.
Under Marsh’s leadership for the past 16 years, the Foundation has distributed more than $45 million to Westchester nonprofits. Permanent charitable funds have expanded to include those for health and human services, community development, the environment, and the arts. In addition, the Foundation now has endowed funds for programs to benefit two communities, Ossining and Tarrytown.
Rossi, who joined the Foundation in 2007, said the Foundation plans to focus its philanthropic resources to address education and equitable smart growth issues. She plans to engage more donors on all of the Foundation’s programs, which are intended to make life better for all residents.
