The public relations landscape has forever changed. While PR has always been about long-term strategy, today’s environment is characterized by constant disruption. Emerging technologies, evolving audiences, and shifting media landscapes are challenging traditional practices. This year’s PRSA Tri-State Conference, themed “Surviving Strategic Shifts: The Modern Era of PR,” tackled these changes head-on with a lineup of keynotes, fireside chats, and interstitial sessions designed to arm attendees with the latest strategies and actionable insights.
Held on May 2, the conference featured a full day of learning and networking. Notable speakers included Sukhi Sahni, a senior PR executive and educator, and Checkey Beckford, an Emmy® Award-winning reporter for NBC 4 New York. They, along with other industry leaders, shared their expertise on mastering the art of storytelling, adapting to new technologies, and thriving in a rapidly changing media environment.
The conference also paid tribute to Michael Diamond, a beloved industry professional who served as a clinical assistant professor of integrated marketing and communications at NYU’s School of Professional Studies. Michael’s legacy of mentorship and advocacy for strategic communications continues to inspire the PR community.
The event underscored the importance of future-proofing PR strategies. Attendees learned about leveraging AI, social media analytics, data measurement, and other cutting-edge tools to enhance their PR efforts. This knowledge is crucial for creating compelling narratives that resonate with audiences in today’s dynamic landscape.
