You’re invited to join Buzz Creators at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) “Light The Night” event on Tuesday, 11/27 (rescheduled date due to Hurricane Sandy) at The Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY (198 Central Avenue) from 6-9 pm. This event will recognize Honored Patients, survivors, caregivers, those walking in memory of loved ones, top teams and sponsors. There will be food, entertainment and kid’s activities.
This year’s “Honored Patients” are: eight-year-old Sabrina Marciante of South Salem, a patient with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL); and Court Ingraham of Mahopac, a survivor of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This year’s “In Memory Patient” is Joseph Lorenz of Ossining, who lost his battle to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the summer of 2011. These Honorees are examples of the sobering reality that every four minutes in this country someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every ten minutes, someone dies from the disease. Despite the successful advances in medical research, leukemia still claims the lives of more children and young adults under the age of 20 than any other cancer.
LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. Funds raised from Light The Night provide significant support to these programs. Last year, the three Westchester/Hudson Valley Walks included more than 7,000 walkers who collectively raised $887,000. Nationally, Light The Night raised $50 million in 2011!
Buzz Creators is very proud to be a Media Sponsor of Light The Night. Please join us to show your support (or volunteer at the event!) — more details are available at www.lightthenight.org/wch or 914-821-8362.
