HEINEKEN USA, The White Plains Business Improvement District and White Plains Mayor Tom Roach Partner To Help Keep Westchester’s Residents Safe During Their New Year’s Eve Celebrations
HEINEKEN USA is once again joining forces with The City of White Plains and The White Plains Business Improvement District to help keep residents safe on New Year’s Eve. The groups today announced the 10th annual “New Year. Safe Ride.” program, in which HEINEKEN USA will be providing free and safe rides home for Westchester County residents of legal drinking age who are celebrating New Year’s Eve in downtown White Plains.
A dedicated fleet of more than 30 cars will provide complimentary rides home for those 21 and older traveling anywhere in White Plains and throughout Westchester County.
“Over the past nine years, the ‘New Year. Safe Ride.’ program has provided more than 3,000 free and safe rides home for Westchester County residents of legal drinking age to help people enjoy a safe and happy holiday season,” said Stacey Tank, Senior Vice President & Chief Corporate Relations Officer, HEINEKEN USA. “This program is a long-standing demonstration of the importance HEINEKEN USA places on responsible consumption. We are honored to stand alongside our community partners and are proud to be headquartered here in White Plains.”
“The White Plains Business Improvement District is proud to partner with The City of White Plains, and many local sponsors, to host The 14th Annual White Plains New Year’s Eve Spectacular. The celebration begins at 10 pm and will feature live music, a countdown and ball drop, confetti and a beautiful grand finale fireworks display that is sure to wow the crowd once again this year,” said Brittany Brandwein, Director of Events and Business Promotions, White Plains Business Improvement District.
Revelers can take advantage of the ‘New Year. Safe Ride.’ program between 11:00 p.m. on December 31 and 3:00 a.m. on January 1. The car service station will be located in the heart of downtown, on the corner of East Post Road and Mamaroneck Avenue.
“With its countless great restaurants and energetic nightlife, downtown White Plains has everything you need to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Our New Year’s Eve Spectacular has become a fun and exciting tradition for many White Plains families, as well as people from all over Westchester County, said White Plains Mayor Tom Roach. “I would like to thank and congratulate all of the community partners who help support this terrific event, especially HEINEKEN USA for its 10th year sponsorship of the ‘New Year. Safe Ride.’ Program.”
Drunk driving is a local, regional and national issue during the holiday season and year-round. Programs such as the “New Year. Safe Ride,” underscores the importance that HEINEKEN USA places on responsible consumption and promoting safe behavior, as well partnering with communities and law enforcement.
“HEINEKEN USA’s ‘New Year. Safe Ride.’ program offers a valuable community service, providing a safe means of transportation home for party goers and safer roads throughout Westchester County for our community on New Year’s Eve,” commented Kevin J. Plunkett, Westchester Deputy County Executive. “Driving while intoxicated is a serious offense that can have tragic consequences, including the loss of lives. Drivers need to think and act responsibly at holiday time, and every time, when they get behind the wheel of a car.”
